iHolster Review

The product: iHolster

Company: iProductsonline. (http://www.iproductsonline.net/)

Price: $29 as tested ($22 with molded belt clip only).

Since its introduction in April 2000, the iPAQ has been at the center of attention in the PocketPC world. The number of accesoiries has trememdously increased. One common choice of add-on for most users has been cases. But so far, very few, in my opinion, truly deserve attention.
Well, the iHolster is one that needs to be taken into consideration.

The product:

The iHolster is absolutely perfect through an engineering point of view. Simple, very few parts make it cheap to produce and to sell, and efficient.
The model I received was the one with a belt clip (though there is still a belt attachement on other models).
The iHolster is simply a piece of plastic, bent to match your iPAQ's shape. It will protect the iPAQ screen, and carry it very securely.

The iHolster will work with any Expansion Sleeve, even the Silver Slider!!!!

How to wear it:

You'll wear your iHolster on your belt, and simply slide in any iPAQ in to carry it. You will need to use a sleeve since the naked model won't hold into place. I tried it with the factory slipper case which did work perfectly. Using my SS2 was a little trickier, and though it did work just fine, I had to be careful while inserting the iPAQ into the iHolster (not to scratch the arms of the SS2).
The best idea behind the iHolster is that you can use it with absolutely any iPAQ with any Expansion Pack. Even the monster Dual will fit in just a snap! That gives users much more flexibility and at least you won't have to throw your $80 CF case away when getting a bigger Expansion Pack! Just keep using the iHolster, it will work!
Just a little word about the belt clip. It is big but very effective. It will securely hold the iHolster on your belt, and trust me when I say securely, the only way to remove it is to incline it at a 90 degree angle with the iHolster and then press on the release swtich! That might be a little pain in the neck if you quickly need to get your iHolster off your belt, but once again, it is not its purpose! You can keep it attached to your belt at all times and still quickly access your iPAQ. In comparison, I use a Vaja case that needs to get off my belt if I need to use my PocketPC. The problem with this is that sometimes you can't access the release switch quickly enough (though Vaja has done a great job facilatating the release!).

Firmly pushing on the SS2 did help to prevent scratches on the arms!

Conclusion:

One thing that was taught to me and that I'll always remember is that great products aren't always very complicated! You just need to find a way to make something that works, does the job, and try to make it cost effective!
Well, the iHolster does all that. It is a great solution to carry your iPAQ around, and will cost you a mere $29 with belt clip, it is by far one of the cheapest way to carry your iPAQ!!!

I finally found a case that will allow me to show off my beautiful SS2!!!! Looking good, especially for only $29!!!

I finally want to thanks Steve Corrales for sending me this unit for review and also to congratulate iProductsonline for their great work!!!!
