The very well documented sample wallet
provides all necessary info to get you started. Creating
a new category is also a snap.
Developer
One is one of the biggest software developers for PocketPC. They
already have a significant list of apps available for PPC. Among
those software Code Wallet, the popular electronic wallet. Both
Code Wallet and Illium
Software eWallet share the similar function of protecting
user's personal information and make them secure on mobile devices.
Yet both have their differences.
In this review, I will take a look at Code Wallet, French version;
eWallet is currently only available in English, making it more
difficult for international users to take full advantage of the
software.

The image inserting options are very
complete. You can precisly position the place of the picture on the
display but also choose from a variety of different options to fully
make your wallet unique.
Installation:
The steps for installing the application fall into the traditional
software install. Double click the install exe file and make sure
your device is connected to Active Sync. AS will initiate the
installation. You can install it in local RAM or on the storage
card. Once installed, Code Wallet will create a specific folder
under My Documents where wallets will be stored. The software
also installs a sample wallet that is very well documented for
first time users.

Creating a new category is straight forward;
click and hld the category field
and select a new one from the list of create one to your custom needs.
Using it:
Code
Wallet as well as eWallet allows users to lock their info using
128bit encryption. With the use of a custom password you can easily
protect all your data. Code Wallet passwords can be applied to
the wallet or subcategories within the wallet itself something
that eWallet currenlty doesn't support. This feature allows users
to only protect what needs to be secured and not information such
as unsecure favorite website lisst or such items.
The difference between both applications comes in the presentation
of the data. eWallet offers you the possibility to display the
card as a physical card on the screen. This makes it nice for
quick references and access. On the other hand, Code Wallet Pro
lets the user enter much more detailed information as well as
notes. The available fields are, Summary, Notes, Sounds, Image
and Options. Each field allows you to enter a variety of info.
Code Wallet Pro also provides many different sample icons to choose
from in order to customize the display and help users find their
way through the software even faster. I I found this option to
be a great advantage especially when you have tons of info to
enter. You can organize each card by category. To create a new
category simply click and hold the icon on your wallet and choose
New Category. You will then be able to choose from a list that
pretty much covers everything possible or you can enter a custom
name and choose a specific icon for this newly created category.
Adding a card works in the same manner. Click and hold on a category
icon and choose New Card. You'll then be able to enter a summary
that contains the name of the card, then more specific details
for each different type of cards.

Adding a card to your wallet is similar
to add a category; click and hold the subcategory and select add card.
Using the
desktop version:
The desktop version of Code Wallet Pro is very similar than the
PPC version. You'll be able to do as much on both versions. The
great thing about getting both the desktop and the PPC version
at the same time is that it will allow you to sync your wallet
directly to the PPC without having to deal with Active Sync. It
opens up the Pocket PC document folder saved on your desktop and
saves the wallet in the appropriate directory. eWallet uses a
similar feature.

The desktop version keeps the integrity of the Pocket
PC version so users shouldn't have any problems going back
and forth. Not to mention the ease of synching wallets on your mobile
device.
The French
version:
The French version of Code Wallet Pro has been well translated.
Though I have to say that I was amused by some items that were
still in English such as PIN: personal identification number,
or desktop (at least these two are shorter than their french conterparts:
PIN: code personel; desktop: ordinateur de bureau). I know that
there really isn't any easy way to translate everything but still
the software will provide ample translations to any french user.

Conclusion:
Developer One is offering a great software in Code Wallet Pro.
If you are still undecided on which one to get (eWallet or Code
Wallet) then you should first evaluate what you need it for. If
you are in search of a very complete application that lets you
enter details about a specific item, then Code Wallet is probably
for you. If you'd rather get a software that can easily open and
navigate through personal info such as credit cards, drivers license,
then eWallet might be slightly better. I personally use Code Wallet
event hough I don't need that many details on most my cards; I
know that in case I might need it, the options are available and
I can easily fill what's missing, something that eWallet users
won't be able to do. When shopping online, I don't even bother
getting my credit cards but rather use my "Sam's Wallet".
I just wish I could use it in store as well ;).

If you are
an international user, there really isn't any way around as eWallet
is only available in English. Code Wallet Pro is available in
English, French, Spanish, and German.
And remember, it's a small price to pay to protect your precious
data.
Finally, I'd
like to thank John Psuik for sending me the application for review!
Keep up with the great work!!!
