Once again the case
came in a very nice box! I know that it might not seem important to mention
that but I feel that the quality of Vaja cases is shown everywhere, even
in the packaging! That's the reason why I took the time to mention it!
The case was nicely wrapped up in a leather pouch that came with it at
no extra charge (better be free at this price!!!).
I was really impressed by the quality of the case once again! These Vaja
cases are simply top notch! There is nothing to complain about!
The case
that I received was originally made for the Silver Slider 3. Not having
one at hand, I ended up using my Silver Slider
2 (yup, I wanted to review this beauty as soon as I could). I must tell
you that I was a little afraid that the iPAQ wouldn't fit but it worked
absolutely perfectly!
The model is in Olive (green) leather, with magnetic closure, single padded
cover, no credit card slots nor belt clip. The basic case is sold for $105
though with the added option, mine came up to a whopping $172! I hear you
screaming already! This isn't cheap but you'll get the BEST case for iPAQ
at this price!!!!

I had to use a SS2 for the purpose of this review... It worked just
fine.... Thanks to the great product Vaja offers!
Vaja
uses the best quality leather you'll ever encounter. The side walls of
the case are also reinforced with some sort of nylon. This adds not only
extra strength to the case but also a nicer finish. The interior is engraved
with Vaja's custom comments! I always liked this little touch which adds
to the great design!
I must tell you that Vaja cases need to be broken in to perfectly adjust
to your iPAQ (like most leather cases). I used this case for only a day
(so far) and my iPAQ with SS2 already fits nicely in it! The magnetic
closure is also a nice little add-on though I personally prefer the snap
on design. The magnets are quite powerful and will prevent the cover from
onening under most circumstances. One little drawback is that I did notice
that with the iPAQ in (with SS2), the cover was a little tilted which
prevented one of the magnets from properly adhering to the cover.... This
problem will probably disappear after just a few days of using the case
but it's something to consider when getting a brand new one...

Tight fit, but after a few days, it'll be just perfect!!!!
The SS3
access pocket is absolutely great! I can now access my Microdrive without
having to open the cover... The point... none really but it looks damn
good!!! It can still be useful if you have a wireless CF that sticks out
quite a bit! One little advantage for me is that I can run my Socket
Phone Card from the outside, thus not having to worry about wires
hanging everywhere!
The bottom is cut off to allow synchronization. It worked fine for me
(after the mods I did to my cradles... for my other Vaja case) but once
again, the case will need to settle in in order to facilitate synching!
My Stowaway keyboard is also an item that is
perfectly fitted to use with the case!

Conclusion:
The Vaja iPAQ
case for the SS3 is an absolute marvel! As far as I'm concerned, there
are no other iPAQ cases as nice, and I must add that the SS3 is probably
my favorite of all! I realize the price is high (quite high) but for
this kind of quality product, I think that it is money well spent
(well, at least if you have it).
Vaja cases are not competing with any other PDA products due to their
higher prices but are designed for true enthusiasts that are not affraid
to spend extra $$ for quality products!
If you think you fall into this category and are a true Pocket PC
nut, you'll definitely want to take a look at the beautiful cases
Vaja offers!! If you're not, still take a look and wait for Santa
to drop by!!!
A special
thanks goes to Mariano Tomassetti, from Vaja,
for sending me a sample of the product!
