Applian Coolcalc: calculator program that allows
you to specify a scheme and functions to the calculator. You can also
create custom scheme or download and install one. Come with few different
calculator integrated such as tip calculator, scientific calc, Business,
RPN, binary calc...... The registered version is $30, the demo only
last 30 days.
Snoopsoft Dashboard: this great utility lets
you customized your Today's page, with options such as
Agenda, Mail, Tasks, Calendar, and a Launcher. The last
lets you launch applications without getting into the
start menu!!! Many skins are currently available, but
if you are talented, you can make your own! $10.

Conduits Mirror: Program that shows a black screen
in order to reflect your image if you want a quick look at yourself.
Does not provide great details, and you might want to locate a bathroom
instead of using this program. Use it only if you have a large CF
card and you don't care about installing useless program on. Freeware.
Conduits Peacemaker:use to communicate with
Palm Pilot OS. You can exchange business cards, and files with PPC.
The basic program is free, but in order to exchange files you need
to get the professional version for about $10.
Conduits Validate: Get rid off annoying shortcuts
from your CF card while not inserted into the PPC. Very easy to use
and install. A must have freeware.
Gigabar: I tried this freeware few weeks after
getting the iPAQ and thought it was just to much to setup and it seemed
to take resources from the system. I never really took the time to
fully read the user manual included with the software. It was my biggest
mistake! This software doesn't slow down you PPC (you can check out
the review of Dale Coffin at ) and makes the use of the PPC much easier
and personal. You can customize it the way you want with almost no
limitations. Make sure you read the instruction, it might take you
about 10-15 minutes of reading and then you'll be ready to roll!!!
A must have freeware!
Jimmy iPAQ overclock: Must have freeware that
allows you to set the clock speed on your iPAQ. Slower for energy
savings or faster for full potential of the CPU. I use it at 236MHz
all the time. The system is pretty stable even though it crashes once
in a while when sync to the computer and running background programs
such as IM and Inbox. A much have freeware.
Jimmy Landscape 2:use to switch to
landscape view on your iPAQ. The program launches easily
and gives you the option to rebook. The soft reset during
view switch is not quite as powerful than pressing on
the reset button of your iPAQ. Some settings are conserved
but you will need to reset the input method. The new beta
allows you to switch the display. Nice feature for browsing
on wider pages even though the readability becomes a concern.
Turjah does not work with the landscape
mode, and I haven't tried other games yet. This software
might be useful if you have long text to write, allowing
you to use the Transcriber with the full screen, or even if you
want to view larger websites. $10 ($15 for the latest
release).
Maximilian Wimmer PTE: Complete periodic table.
Some options. A must for Chem students. Freeware.
Maximilian Wimmer Unit Converter: unit converter.
Very useful converter. Includes speed, temperature, forces, length,
weight...... Freeware with little pop-up window.
Microsoft Power contact: add some functions
to your contact program.
Microsoft Today Screen Image tool: This
little app let you put a picture on your Today's page. Pretty nice
if you want to customize your PPC and make it look more like a real
Windows 9* platform. Freeware.
MXClock: Clock utility that
is supposed to let you put a picture of your choice on the background.
Option for alternating the background picture. I've tried this app
and got stuck with the default cat picture on the clock!!!!!! Don't
waste your money, move on.
Newmad Technologies ColorPicker: Let you customize
the color of practically everything on your PPC. I haven't used it
much since it does require you to update the registry and I don't
really like this too much.
Pessaux IDic: Little dictionary. It doesn't
correct your mistakes but let you know if the word used exists. You
can also upload custom dics. It's a freeware so I guess you may want
to try it if you got some extra storage.
Pocket Streets 3.02: When used in conjunction
with Streets and Trips 2000 this software let you upload
custom maps on you PPC and view them at a later time. It also includes
a very useful zoom option. It's a freeware.
Note: the latest version did not work on my iPAQ with my 2000
maps. The maps could apparently not be read and you might need to
upgrade to Streets and Trips 2001. If you need this version
(3.02), email me I'll sent it to you!
Regedit: Registry editor. A must have
app, especially if you're trying to get an Internet connection going
through the cradle. $20
Scoot Seligman KeyStrokeCE: Input method
quite original. I tried this app because it was a freeware. I took
me some time to finally have a clue how to make it work. Still, I'm
not an expert so don't ask me! Also once installed, you can't remove
the dll that easily since it is used by the system. Lack of documentation
made that program quite uninteresting. Freeware.
Today's the day: this app let you customize
your today's page. Make it a little more personal. You can download
tons of skins, and make your own! Freeware.
Transcriber: Microsoft's original. I mostly
use it, except to enter password or sometimes change the punctuation
of a document.
Trend Micro PC-cillin: Be prepared, virus
are coming on PPC!!!! A MUST HAVE, Freeware. Anti-virus that scans
your entire files. REMEMBER...
Unzip: Freeware that let you unzip files. Nice
to have just in case.
Virtual iPAQ: Desktop application that let you
see and manage your PPC from your computer. You can view the screen
of your PPC and starts apps from your desktop. Great to show off to
your friends. Relatively easy install (only one file to copy to your
PPC /windows dir). The free unregistered version doesn't allow you
to copy the files directly onto your desktop. You got to spend some
bucks for that feature.
Dockware: application that puts
a clock on your background while not used. It comes with a calendar,
and switches pictures at specific intervals. You can customize the
pictures. The transitions are nice. Freeware. You can buy it if you
would like to add features.
Mascot: sweet
little Japanese character that you can place on your screen and that
tell you the time (in a bubble). You can customize captions and graphics.
Freeware. After downloading the program, you can get the English text
file at: http://www.mtdn.fr.st/
OKSeriously.com Flashlight: shows a blank
screen to use the PPC as a flashlight! Don't really need it unless
you got some memory to waste! Freeware
OKSeriously.com ToneDialer: utility that
allows you to dial you contact phone number without using keypad.
Just select the number to compose and tap! Doesn't work to well when
external noise is high! But it's better getting it compare to others
since it's a freeware!
Jonathan Sachs Ephemeris: utility for astronomers
that let you check the moon phase, sunrise and sunset, all this calculated
for your specific date and location (longitude, latitude...). Freeware.
Jonathan Sachs StopTime: chronograph for
you PPC. Freeware.
NCA Napier: scientific
calc. I much prefer CoolCalc, but Napier is free and you can customize
it as well!
Spacehog: software that lists the files on your PPC
by size so you can check which one are taking too much space. Freeware.
SnoopSoft ColorME: This utility is great and let
you customize your PPC theme just the same way that you do on your
Windows**** platform. Freeware that you can register for $5.
